Possible closing of De Maisonneuve Bike Path on front page of Sept 28 Gazette

The front page of the Gazette has a big colour photo and headline “Westmount May Shift Gears on Bike Path”  The online edition does not have that photo.

Whether the closing of the path is a possibility or not, we must be vigilant and work to keep it open.  The article is a warning to those cyclists who speed on the path. They must  slow down going through Westmount.  The group who want to close the path are not urban cyclists.  There is a lot of bashing of cyclists these days and we must counteract this trend.  We can start by encouraging all cyclists to follow the rules.  We can work on changing the rules that don’t make sense such as stopping at every stop sign when there is no one in sight.
